Type of Film

An L bar sealer should be used with a centerfold shrink film. A centerfold shrink film is folded lengthways and placed on a roll. A small pouch is created for products to slide into the film. The L sealer encloses the product in one movement. Stock centerfold shrink film is offered in thicknesses from 45 gauge to 100 gauge. Automatic machines do require more than an economy centerfold film to operate smoothly. The film should be made from polyolefin and recommended to be irradiated. Irradiated or crosslinked shrink film works better with hot knife sealers. The increased seal strength helps a hot knife sealer cleanly and efficiently make seals with no leftover residue. 

Sealing Blade

The sealing blade is one of the most used items on an automatic L bar sealer. Most automatic machines use a hot knife sealer for product seals. Lower cost automatic machines use a wire to make seals as products pass through the conveyor. The use of a wire sealing blade for an automatic L bar sealer is not ideal. The wire sealing blade will wear out faster and will need replacement much more often than a hot knife sealing blade. The hot knife sealing blade is a thin piece of metal that is heated to the desired temperature to make seals over and over again. With proper cleaning, a hot knife sealing blade will last for years.

Because polymers are larger molecules, acrylic and dip nails are thicker than the standard nail polish; gel nail polish contains polymers, too!In order to polymerize, there needs to be a special activator; this is where monomer liquid comes in. The monomer solution contains acrylic monomers that bond together to the monomers in the acrylic powder, creating a cement-like liquid that quickly dries down. An acrylic brush is dipped into the monomer fluid, then into the acrylic to form a “bead,” and is finally patted down onto the nail/nail form/nail tip.

In dip nails, the process is the same, just with dip powder activator, another kind of monomer liquid, except it is painted on top of the powder that is bonded to the nails. In this case, the activator acts as a curing mechanism rather than a liquid-forming mechanism as with acrylic powder.

Oxygen-free copper (OFC) describes a group of high-conductivity copper alloys that are electrolytically refined to reduce the oxygen level to 0.1% or lower. These copper alloys are often used in industrial electronics applications because of their high conductivity, chemical purity, and high ductility. Oxygen-free copper grades do not release oxygen or other impurities that could result in unacceptable chemical reactions with other materials during certain electronics manufacturing processes. Two of the most widely used oxygen-free copper alloys are oxygen-free (OF) and oxygen-free electronic (OFE). Electrolytic-tough-pitch (ETP) copper is also considered an oxygen-free copper, though it has more oxygen content than the OF and OFE grades.
The process of producing oxygen-free copper begins with separating the copper mineral from the ore by crushing the ore into a fine powder and then melting it in a furnace. Impurities are extracted either by oxidizing to vapor or adding fluxes to form slag, which is later removed. Copper castings resulting from that process are then melted and cast in a vacuum, reducing environment, or inert gas atmosphere to produce very pure copper with negligible oxygen content. Regardless of the refining process, all OF, OFE, and ETP coppers contain minute amounts of oxygen.

Oxygen-free copper is used extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley for manufacturing electronic parts, components, and assemblies. Typical applications include busbars, conductors, coaxial cables, copper-to-glass seals for appliances, lead wires, microwave tubes, transistor components, vacuum seals, and vacuum tube anodes. Oxygen-free copper has also caught the attention of audiophiles who argue the supposed advantages of oxygen-free copper cables and the better sound that is produced compared to standard copper wire cables because of the improved conductivity. However, this has not yet been proven as fact.

As a result of these manufacturing processes, significant amounts of copper scrap are generated. Although these manufacturers consider this scrap unusable for additional manufacturing processes in their facilities, the dimensions of these oxygen-free scraps make them ideal for manufacturing, fabrication, or machining projects done by smaller shops.

Usable oxygen-free copper remnants are also cheaper compared to new materials, allowing shops to be more price-competitive and profitable regarding the parts they manufacture or the services they offer.
