Poitras documentary wins top prize at Venice Film Festival

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” Laura Poitras’s epic documentary about photographer Nan Goldin and her activism against the Sackler family and their art connections has been awarded the Golden Lion for best film at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. To get more news about 日本色网站, you can visit our official website.

Poitras, the American filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning Edward Snowden documentary “Citizenfour,” thanked the festival for recognizing that “documentary is cinema” at the ceremony Saturday evening in Venice. Neon is expected to release the film in theaters this fall and HBO Documentary Films recently acquired it for a television run.

Runner up went to Alice Diop’s “Saint Omer,” the narrative debut from the documentarian about a young novelist observing the trial of a woman accused of infanticide.

Cate Blanchett and Colin Farrell won the top acting prizes. Blanchett won for her performance as a renowned conductor in Todd Field’s “TÁR” and Farrell for playing a man who has broken up with by his longtime friend in Martin McDonagh’s “The Banshees of Inisherin.”Thank you so much, it’s such an enormous honor,’ Blanchett said, having just flown back to Venice from the Telluride Film Festival where the film also played.

Her performance as a successful woman in the world of international music whose reputation comes under threat has gotten nearly universal acclaim.“I’m shocked to get this and thrilled,” Farrell said in a live video message. McDonagh was on site to collect the prize before he got one of his own for screenplay.

Luca Guadagnino won the Silver Lion award for best director for the cannibal romance “Bones and All” starring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell, who also was recognized for her performance for best young actress.

“I have a speech prepared because I’m nervous,” Russell said. “I’m grateful beyond belief to be standing here. So many of my heroes are in this room.

The jury also gave a special jury prize to “No Bears,” by imprisoned Iranian director Jafar Panâhi. The acclaimed director was in July ordered by Iran to serve six-year prison sentence from a decade ago that had never been enforced. The order came as the government seeks to silence criticism amid growing economic turmoil and political pressure.Julianne Moore led the jury that selected Saturday’s winner from a pool of 23 films that included many Oscar hopefuls. The Oscar-winner presided over a jury that included French director Audrey Diwan, whose film “Happening” won the Golden Lion last year, author Kazuo Ishiguro (“Never Let Me Go”), who has been judging from his hotel room after testing positive for COVID-19, and Iranian actor Leila Hatami (“A Separation”). Also on the main jury were Italian director Leonardo Di Costanzo (“The Inner Cage”) Argentinian filmmaker Mariano Cohn (“Official Competition”) and Rodrigo Sorogoyen (“The Candidate”).

Premiering in competition at Venice has launched many successful Oscar campaigns in recent years, leading to nominations and even wins. Seven times in the last nine years the best director Oscar has gone to a film that world premiered at the festival, including Chloé Zhao, Alfonso Cuarón, Alejandro G. Iñarritu, twice, Guillermo del Toro and Damien Chazelle. It’s also debuted a handful future best picture winners like “Nomadland,” “The Shape of Water” and “Birdman.”

BEAUTY IN MOVIES: WHEN CINEMA MEETS BEAUTY ROUTINES

Beauty. Beautifulness. Personality. Uniqueness. Acceptance. Expression. Art. A tangle of words that unfolds to the rhythm of mental associations, those that arise spontaneously when brainstorming the concept of aesthetic care. Just like fashion, beauty, as well, is a manifestation of our ego, a reflection of the nature, personality, passions, and beliefs of us, who make a flag of our inner reality out of our body. Beauty is a manifesto of our uniqueness, the extension of our personality, artistic and healing work on ourselves. Some people say that “hair and makeup” is a mere act of vanity, a shallow operation aimed at changing the image of ourselves into the one we want people to see. It’s a debatable point of view. Beauty is a much deeper concept, it’s the art of cultivating the beautifulness that’s within us in every way it manifests itself, in all the dimensions where it’s hidden; beauty is fishing out our buried, beautiful selves and nurturing them, guiding them while they emerge, bloom and become our essence and our calling cards. To get more news about Night and Night Boutique Navigation, you can visit our official website.
Beauty moments are rituals, almost mystical, almost magical: they’re pieces of time in which we pause our most frenetic everyday thoughts that, whether nice or unpleasant, pop in and out of our heads and put our brains in motion at a stressing, unhealthy speed, potentially harmful for our whole organism. During these ritual and spiritual moments, through a series of actions, mixed with lotions, powders, fragrances, as though bewitched, we stop our real time and enter our own, personal, dimension, where it’s time to focus on ourselves, our physical and mental well-being. Thus, our beautiful selves can emerge, and we, back on Earth, do feel healed, defined. We’ve taken good care of ourselves, so to take better care of the rest.
Cases where beauty is experimentation, cases where beauty is an expression, cases where beauty is preliminary, cases where beauty is transformation: a wide range of uses and applications for a widely represented concept within the scene of the celebration of the beauty that is cinema. The makeup and hair of a character are part of the fabric of its profile and necessary to it, an extension of their personality and motive for their deeds, as much as the path through which they get to certain specific aesthetic results. Just think of Patrick Bateman’s (Christian Bale) famous “skincare routine” in “American Psycho.”
An eloquent ritual, that is enough to describe the character, a detail congruent with his nature. In the famous morning routine scene, where Bateman introduces himself and accurately describes every single step of his beauty ritual, naming the products he uses one by one, and performing each step as if it were a video tutorial. In his rich and splendidly furnished house, between the bedroom, the living room, and the shower, Patrick honors his faith in personal care and “a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine,” outlining the first traits of the profile of a strong character, who will soon turn out to be an obsessive and psychotic man. The high point of the morning routine scene is the removal process of the exfoliating face mask, performed by Bateman with maniacal accuracy, almost like he’s getting rid of a skin layer, almost like he’s tearing his own face; not surprisingly, in that very moment, standing in front of the mirror, he confesses: “There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, […] I simply am not there.”

Played by an extraordinary Julienne Moore, Charlotte is an exhausted woman, drained out by her past experience, a tough woman, sassy, sensual, self-confident, but also devastated and tired; all these traits are highlighted and efficiently expressed through a bold and heavy makeup: eyelids decorated with thick, black kajal strokes, 1960s style, matched with bouncy, elaborate hairstyles. The sequences of close-ups show us her makeup looks and hair in detail as if they were essential threads of the film’s texture. In fact, they are.

An example of beauty rituals as means of disguise or dissimulation (of a bad mood) is Margot Robbie’s Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya,” the biopic about the real-life story of the famous former figure skater.

Beauty Has the Ingredients for a Great Music Drama But Never Finds Its Beat

there are a million ways to tell even very old stories. Beauty, directed by Andrew Dosunmu and written by Lena Waithe, riffs on a classic theme, the idea of a gifted artist being torn her between career and her family, scrambling to find a balance between her own ambition and the demands of the people closest to her. A scheming parent who sees his offspring as a big dollar sign, a wily manager who tries to force a burgeoning talent into the most lucrative mold, a lover who doesn’t fit easily into the plan for fame and fortune: Beauty has it all, including a winsome young star, Gracie Marie Bradley, as the Beauty of the film’s title, a woman who’s naively sure of her destiny despite all the forces holding her back.To get more news about Comprehensive Europe, America, Asia, Japan, you can visit our official website.
Yet Beauty—set in the 1980s and bearing more than a passing resemblance to the real-life story of Whitney Houston—never quite gels. The movie’s opening introduces us to Beauty and maps out her family’s dynamic: Her father (Giancarlo Esposito) is domineering and verbally abusive toward her two brothers, but adores her—though his love for her comes with certain expectations, and a price. Her mother (Niecy Nash) is a gifted performer who has spent her life singing backup, never daring to reach for stardom herself. She knows how extraordinarily talented her daughter is, and is trying to guide her properly, though her envy sometimes muddies the message. She and Beauty’s father have had stern disagreements about the hard-as-nails manager (Sharon Stone) who’s angling to sign Beauty as a client: Beauty’s father is all for it, but her mother hesitates, fearing that her daughter might be destroyed by the system, and by fame.

There’s another complication: Beauty is deeply in love with Jas (Aleyse Shannon), and the two want to build a life together. But Beauty’s father hates Jas and sees her as a deterrent to Beauty’s success. Meanwhile, Jas tries to get Beauty to think for herself, urging her to get a lawyer before she signs any contract, which only fuels her father’s ire.

Through it all Beauty is something of a ghost, a point that’s made repeatedly by Dosunmu, who treats us to many, many shots of Beauty watching taped performances of her idols—chief among them Mahalia Jackson and Ella Fitzgerald—as we see her face, rapt yet somehow featureless, reflected in the glass of the television tube. This is a device with a capital D, a style choice that comes to feel rote. We never hear Beauty sing, another stylistic choice but one that does make some sense: at one point Beauty’s brassy manager, as portrayed by Stone, urges her to sing “Over the Rainbow” on her first TV appearance as a way of ingratiating herself with white audiences. She also admonishes Beauty to keep her relationship with Jas in the background, seeing it as a major stumbling block on Beauty’s road to stardom.

The point is that to most of those around her, save Jas, Beauty is more a vessel than an actual person, an idea that’s poignant if you know anything about Houston’s story and how her life was orchestrated by those around her, at the expense of her own happiness. But Waithe and Dosunmu—the filmmaker behind the 2013 indie film Mother of George, a beautifully wrought drama about infertility—flirt with tense dramatic developments only to shrug them off without exploring them. It’s often hard to tell exactly what’s happening in a scene and why; certain characters behave in ways that are convenient to the plot but don’t wholly make sense. Dosunmu favors oblique camera angles and swimmy soft-focus views, again, perhaps, to mimic Beauty’s smudged sense of herself as a person. But Beauty ends before it has really dug into anything of consequence. Its heroine, whom we know is headed for trouble, is left stranded in the middle of her own story. When she opens her mouth to sing, no sound comes out, and she’s stuck in that cycle of voicelessness for eternity.

The 15 best beauty looks from the Venice Film Festival 2022

The Venice Film Festival 2022 was more than just diamonds and designers this year as drama threatened to take the spotlight with Harry Styles, Chris Pine and Olivia Wilde dominating the headlines. Did Harry spit into Chris Pines's lap or did he not at their premiere for Don't Worry Darling, and were all of the film cast not on speaking terms? To get more news about European and American Color Network, you can visit our official website.

It wasn't something we expected from the usually refined festival in Italy that rivals Cannes now in terms of glamour and star power. The Venice Film Festival 2022 certainly drew big names this year, Julianne Moore, Jodie Turner-Smith, Penelope Cruz, Cate Blanchett and more appeared in dazzling couture and spectacular jewels on the red carpet.
Some of the bigger names dressing these queens of the big screen were Valentino, Schiaparelli, Gucci, Elie Saab, and Alexander McQueen. And the A-lister glam squads worked hard behind the scenes and in the heat of late summer to create hair and beauty looks that were off the charts.

In hair especially, we saw lots of sculptural updos, baby curls and bobs with hair accessories set in place with plenty of wet-look gel on the red carpet. Take that as a trend forecast for the season ahead as events like the Venice Film Festival 2022, Cannes, and award ceremonies can kick off viral looks that otherwise weren't predicted. In no particular order, these are our favourites from the festival so far.
My favorite beauty movie moment it was a few months ago when I was researching for Camila Cabello's performance at SNL. She had a performance inspired by Marie Antoinette, so I started watching the 2006 Marie Antoinette movie. Literally, my jaw dropped! It was so well done, all the costumes and beauty in the movie.

I’m a big fan of all eras of movies but sometimes it’s very tricky, as the hair can look tacky rather than cool. In this movie, the hair struck the perfect balance of these big wigs that were made in a really modern way. I ended up keeping many of these ideas on my books."

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed’ Wins Venice Film Festival Golden Lion

After nearly two weeks of lush red carpets, timed standing ovations, and viral “Don’t Worry Darling” drama, the 79th Venice Film Festival comes to a close on Saturday in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema (Lido di Venezia). Julianne Moore chairs the festival’s jury alongside her fellow judges and elite film peers Mariano Cohn, Leonardo di Costanzo, Audrey Diwan, Leila Hatami, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Rodrigo Sorogoyen. To get more news about Watch Asians Online, you can visit our official website.

“I feel like so often the discussion around the future of cinema ends up being a discussion that’s more commercial, more business oriented,” Moore said in her opening remarks on August 31. “When we talk about the future of cinema it often degrades into what the future of the business is. That’s not the future of art.”

Established in 1932, Venice is the oldest ongoing cinematic awards celebration and is regarded among the world’s most esteemed international film festivals. 22 titles are in contention for this year’s Golden Lion — Venice’s prestigious top prize, awarded to Audrey Diwan’s searing abortion drama “Happening” in 2021 — with no clear frontrunner.Adapted from Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name, Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” marked Netflix’s first time opening the festival and struck IndieWire’s David Ehrlich as “equal parts inspired and exasperating.” Another adaption, one from playwright Samuel D. Hunter, Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale” garnered significant buzz thanks to star Brendan Fraser: a likely Best Actor recipient for his performance as a depressed 600-pound man.

As for the Best Actress race: Ana de Armas stars as Marilyn Monroe in “Blonde,” Andrew Dominik’s underwhelming psychological drama that still sees a strong showing from the “Knives Out” scene-stealer. Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett anchors Todd Field’s TÁR as a world-famous classical composer and conductor in what Ehrlich called “one of the most exciting new American films in years.”

Also in competition for top prizes are Alice Diop’s “Saint Omer,” Kōji Fukada’s “Love Life,” Rebecca Zlotowski’s “Other People’s Children,” Martin McDonagh’s “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All,” and more.

Venice’s field, mirrored by stiff competition at both Telluride and Toronto, spells a muddled fight to the finish for this year’s Academy Awards’ Best Picture race. Other non-documentary films screened at Venice — out of competition — include Ti West’s “Pearl,” Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling,” Kim Ki-duk’s “Call of God,” and “Dead for a Dollar”: a film from this year’s Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award honoree Walter Hill.

The best beauty looks from the Cannes Film Festival 2022

The Cannes Film Festival ends this weekend, wrapping up a fortnight of major fashion (and film) moments. To get more news about 91 Asian Chinese Paradise Online View, you can visit our official website.

As with any event that draws in the world's biggest film stars at their glamorous best, there was also no shortage of noteworthy beauty looks on display. From Julianne Moore’s smokey bronze eyes and Elle Fanning’s playfully pretty pink cheeks to Petra Nemcová’s aquamarine eyelids, the festival attendants really brought their game faces.

As the red carpet gets rolled up for another year, let's take a look back at some beauty looks we’ll be trying to recreate for the rest of the year.

Berry pouts were all over Cannes this year and actor and director Maggie Gyllenhaal's raspberry version is particularly enviable. A real reminder that a bold lip is often all you need to look ‘done’.

For her Cannes debut, Margaret Qualley brought big bow energy to the premiere of her new film, Stars At Noon. As is fitting for a Chanel ambassador, Qualley kept it classically chic in the beauty department, opting for brushed-up brows and a timeless deep red lip. A loose natural ponytail let that giant black organza ribbon do all the talking.

Not many people could wear a 35,53-carat emerald Bulgari necklace and not have it pull all focus away from your face, but Julianne Moore is not many people.

The soft eyeshadow in a rusty shade brings draws the eyes face ward and brings out Moore's signature red locks. This makeup masterclass is the work of Vietnamese Canadian makeup artist Hung Vanngo who also works with JLo, Elsa Hosk and Selena Gomez. If there was a formula that dictated this year’s Cannes’ beauty looks it would be this: hair pulled back into centre-parted bun, sculpted cheeks, bright lip and a pair of kilowatt earrings.

Eva Longoria, Amy Jackson, and Helena Gatsby all donned the look to great effect. Keep the pairing in you back pocket for the next time you’re at a loss for what to do.You could argue the appeal of Elle Fanning's youthful look is really her bright and ultra healthy skin, but that little bit of rosy blush across apples of her cheeks and the fluttery eyelashes get her fresh as a daisy look over the line. Her pink beaded hair bow matches her Giorgio Armani gown to perfection.

Maybe it's winter's arrival, maybe it's the return of every other 90s trend, but one look at Maye Musk's beautifully rich berry lips had us googling "are goths back?". We're not complaining if they are.

American model Grace Elizabeth's hairstyle at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere is proof that the wet hair look is still going strong.

The model is actually rocking a thick fringe at the moment but her hairdresser Peter Lux opted to gel it back and to the side for this look, and it turned out to be a solid choice.

In March, Auckland hairstylist Lauren Gunn let us in on an expert tip for trying the look at home – "use lube". Do with that information what you will.

Beauty (2022) Review: Music, Fame, Freedom and the Balance Between

Beauty is an American drama film written and co-produced by Lena Waithe, and directed by Andrew Dosunmo. It follows the story of a young, talented woman who struggles to keep her identity while on the path to fame. The cast includes Gracie Marie Bradley, Aleyse Shanon, Niecy Nash, and other actors. To get more news about The first district, the second district, the third district, you can visit our official website.

Beauty is the name of a girl who has a profound talent in music, but this gift seems to take away her freedom and her identity. The movie was more of an artistic piece of work than something that you would watch for your entertainment. However, it highlights the differences and the similarities that the world has seen in the past few decades. The differences are the openness of people when it comes to sexuality, while the similarities are the world of fame.

The movie begins with our protagonist remembering the days that led to her entering the world of fame with her musical talent. When a normal day with her girlfriend and brother is followed by a family dinner when the talk begins after her father decides to commercialize her talent. The naive girl has followed the rules her parents have set for her till today and is now being led to an ideal world of fame that she can’t help but want for herself.

But what lies ahead is anything but the fantasy that she had created. The demands of the world are split between black and white, and the tension pressurizes the young girl. On the other hand, is the homophobic society that stops her from letting them know of the existence of her girlfriend. The woman cannot find peace in her family as well when she is seen as an investment by her father who now waits for his returning money. And a mother with a musical talent herself, who is unable to refute her husband but tries to stop her daughter from entering the industry.
The protagonist goes through a character development throughout the movie and from a naive girl who is unable to rebel she goes on to stand for herself. She slowly recognizes the people who are doing what is good for her while letting go of the binds that her father had tied for her. However, as she is leaving behind the girl she used to be, the one thing that does not change is her confidence in her talent.

There is only one way that Beauty has followed throughout the movie, singing her way to fame. This is one thing that she never diverts from and keeps making her way to her goal while learning the unfamiliar ways of a pop star. Her music goes on and she frees herself from the music of her mother along the way.

One of the best parts about the movie Beauty has to be the playlist, the soulful songs, and the musician of the 80s who took our hearts away. The songs are really beautiful and I’m heading to add them to my playlist very soon! The songs played throughout the movie are so carefully selected, and we can clearly get a glimpse of the racial struggles in the society of the time. It is these elements that give you the feeling of a society we know yet tend to ignore.

the most beautiful woman in the world

I was on my way home from work one afternoon when I remembered my wife Abby asked me to pick up some AA batteries. I stopped at Walgreens. As I hunted for the battery kiosk, I rounded a corner and saw a really, really beautiful woman. She had sandy hair and a slender neck. She wore a black leather jacket and black boots with a little heel to them.To get more news about Watch Japanese porn sites online, you can visit our official website.

Abby and I were married for more than 17 years, and there wasn’t a day of that I didn’t see her as the most beautiful woman in the world. And the most beautiful thing about her was how she looked at me. In her eyes, I was handsome and smart. Every morning she told me I looked nice, that she loved me, and to have a good day. Every evening, goodnight and I love you.

Abby was amazingly easy to photograph. She took direction well, understood light and angles, and was always able to flash me a very natural, very beautiful smile, usually with a little bit of head tilt. As a photographer, I can name dozens or hundreds of favorite photos I’ve made over the years, and about four of the top ten are of Abby.

Most of my readers know that Abby died this month after a long illness. Her beauty remains in me, though, in the way she taught me to see the world, and the way she taught me to see myself.

Sarasota sheriff sending ballistic helmets to Ukraine

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Kurt Hoffman wanted to do their part to help protect those fighting for Ukraine. They say over 340 of their ballistic helmets have been packed up and will soon be on their way.To get more news about camouflage bulletproof vest, you can visit bulletproofboxs.com official website.

"We knew we had over 300 of these that were set to be destroyed, we thought this was a good way to divert those and help those people," Hoffman said. "They specifically asked for these. We hope it does help them."

He explained that under manufacturer standards, they are rotated every five years and would otherwise be destroyed.
"These are in our inventory that our folks in patrol have access to. They expire from time to time and we have to get rid of the older ones. Still good otherwise," he said. Now he's answering a call from the Department of Defense and State Department. They've asked law enforcement agencies to help get equipment donated that would "help the Ukrainian people push back against this violence and protect their citizens."

Hoffman said the Department of Defense hopes to supply more than 50,000 helmets and other law enforcement supplies in the coming weeks.

"When you think about our country and having the democracy and freedoms that we’ve had for over 250 years, to see another country fight for what we’ve already fought for and in some countries take for granted, it’s emotional to watch those folks with handguns and rifles and some wearing ballistic helmets similar to this in the street fighting, toe to toe with the Russian aggression," he said.

The sheriff vetted those involved in getting the gear to Ukraine. Authorities said the donations will be distributed to citizens fighting in the streets.

Gear that was once used to protect deputies will soon be used to defend the freedom of Ukraine.

"Maybe in some small part we will be able to help hold the line in Ukraine and they’ll be able to push back this aggression and lives will be saved," Hoffman said.
